About me:

I'm an English/Italian Composer, Producer & Mix Engineer based in Highbury, London. 
I've been teaching for 4 years now and have grown an affinity for helping people develop as artists and producers, and the relationships I get to make along the way are extremely rewarding and inspirational in my own work. 

I am actively writing and performing original music, as well as regularly collaborating on varied musical projects. I work primarily as a full-time music producer and mix engineer. 
I am always learning, studying and making music and I believe this is a key to continuous and enjoyable development. I also DJ and regularly perform DJ sets in venues in London and across England.

I have a 1st Class Honours Degree in Creative Music Production (University of East London - 2019).

I enjoy different styles of music and have benefited from having an extensive palette on my musical journey. I particularly enjoy Soul, Hip Hop, Electronic, Ambient, Jazz, Rock, RnB, Folk, Blues and Grime music. My ears are always open to new sounds and textures. 
In my own music, I love to use the ambience of the world around me to add colour and depth to my works. 

I have experience in the analogue domain, recording artists and bands through large console desks.
The prevalence of DAW's in the last few decades has allowed many great artists access to a professional recording environment using just a laptop and a few fairly inexpensive bits of gear. 

I am competent with Sound Design and I utilise the fundamental concepts which allow me control of the envelope, colour, timbre and the texture of my sound choices. I am also very experienced in recording audio, sampling, programming and orchestrating music with MIDI. 

I began making my truest music with a DIY mentality using the equipment I had access to such as inexpensive microphones and MIDI controllers.

I have a particular interest in understanding and taking what made music sound so beautiful and feel so good in the days of the fully analog workflow, whilst leaving behind the limitations it has; then utilising the best and most progressive technologies the digital world provides us.

I offer individually tailored lessons and sessions for creatives of any level.

Everyone is different, you may be looking to primarily record live sounds, or to program electronic sounds - or to combine the two approaches. By understanding where you are in your development, and what your goals are, I can help you to record, program, layer and sculpt sound. As well as help you to understand and utilise Dynamic Processors like Compressors, EQ's (Digital & Analogue) and other creative FX based forms of processing such as Delay, Reverb and Modulation, to help you understand how to bring your ideas to life.  
These technical skills are essential for modern producer/songwriters, though in my opinion equally as important is understanding your own relationship to music and how you can translate your feelings and emotions into sound. 

I operate day to day from my studio in Highbury. 
I am experienced in Logic Pro X (which is my primary DAW), Ableton Live (I also use extensively) & Pro Tools.

My name is Alberto and I am a brass performer and teacher that has performed in classical and modern music ensembles for more than 15 years. 
During this time, I attended innumerable masterclasses and had great fun in my professional life with experiences such as performing live at Tomorrowland, an avant-garde music festival in Malta, or the great symphonic masterpieces with symphonic orchestras in Spain and the Netherlands.

I hold a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music performance and a master’s degree in music education during my official studies in Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. Now, I have developed my own system in which we will go through all the technical and musical foundations of a brass instrument without even noticing.

My main goal is to make you play beautifully since day one! My own method includes:
-Personalized program: Including breathing techniques, lip fitness and brass fundamentals, body posture awareness, improvisation, and/or preparation for auditions, exams, and performances.
-Cross-genre experience: To be able to perform proficiently in different contexts, it is important to be flexible, well prepared, and live those experiences.
-Mentorship: We will set goals and follow up on them! Same as I did when I won the audition for the EU Wind Orchestra. In my studio, collaborations between students with my participation are strongly encouraged.
-Multi-track video recordings, covers, virtual ensembles, live electronics with low brass...

In addition to his work as a performing musician, he is a passionate teacher. Years ago he started a drum school, but it soon grew into Popschool Twenterand. He and his colleagues train musicians in what you should be able to and know in the bands and on the stages. They also play an active role in advising and supporting music education in education.

In 2017 he launched his own drum method called 360DRUMSbook. This method differs from other methods in that there is a separate book for beats, and also a separate book for fills. These books are placed side by side on the music stand, so that these two skills are always trained in combination. The accompanying app delivers great play-along tracks starting at 40bpm, because slow practice is the way to success!

Joost is a versatile drummer who always melts groove and percussive sound together. He has been active for years on pop stages and in many theaters, both in The Netherlands and abroad. In addition to his work as a performing musician, he is a passionate teacher. Years ago he started a drum school, but it soon grew into Popschool Twenterand. He and his colleagues train musicians in what you should be able to and know in the bands and on the stages. They also play an active role in advising and supporting music education in education. In 2017 he launched his own drum method called 360DRUMSbook. This method differs from other methods in that there is a separate book for beats, and also a separate book for fills. These books are placed side by side on the music stand, so that these two skills are always trained in combination. The accompanying app delivers great play-along tracks starting at 40bpm, because slow practice is the way to success! 🇳🇱 In 1980, in het oosten van Nederland, werd Joost Visser geboren. Hij startte als jonge tamboer bij een lokale drumband. Na een breed en intensief pad van verschillende opleidingen voor klassiek slagwerk, drumstel (ArtEZ Zwolle) en latin american percussie koos hij er in 2007 voor om aan het werk te gaan als full-time musicus. Joost is een veelzijdige drummer die altijd groove en percussieve sound samen laat smelten. Hij is al jaren actief op poppodia en in veel theaters, zowel in binnen- als buitenland. Naast zijn werk als uitvoerend musicus is hij een gepassioneerde docent. Jaren geleden begon hij een drumschool, maar deze groeide al snel uit tot de Popschool voor heel Twenterand. Hij en zijn collega’s leiden muzikanten op in wat je moet kunnen en kennen in de bands en op de podia. Ook spelen zij een actieve rol in het adviseren en ondersteunen van muziek-educatie in het onderwijs. In 2017 heeft hij zijn eigen drummethode gelanceerd onder de naam 360DRUMSbook. Deze methode onderscheid zich van andere methodes doordat er een apart boek voor beats is, en ook een apart boek voor fills. Deze boeken staan naast elkaar op de muziekstandaard waardoor deze twee skills altijd in combinatie getraind worden. De bijbehorende app levert fijne playalong-tracks vanaf 40bpm, want langzaam oefenen is de weg naar succes!

I consider myself a musician that primarily tries to facilitate the artist/act in the best way possible. Meaning I find it a lot more important to know what a song needs than to be able to play the fastest slap solo in the world. Of course you need to have a flawless technique and some chops but in my lessons a lot of focus is also on: 'what is going on around me?', 'what is the singer doing?', 'what are other instruments playing and how can I anticipate on that?'

I strongly belief that these considerations are what makes the difference between a desirable player (someone that other people want to play with) and someone that knows a few tricks but never leaves his bedroom.

Since my studies at the pop academy in Enschede Netherlands, I have been able to do a lot of fun musical stuff.

Theater tours through Europe, artist accompaniment in the Netherlands and Belgium, singing a-capella on the street in London with friends.
On top of that, I played in of countless of weddings, festivals and other parties with all different kinds of bands.

Besides performing I have always gave music lessons! Something I really enjoy and find important.
Teaching music allows me to share my passion and enthusiasm for music with others.

I was trained as a pop musician, though my piano lessons also include plenty of classical, jazz and blues. Just let me know which style you like.
Learning to read notes, improvise, play by heart, music theory ... It all comes up, and I ultimately focus on what you like best.
Nothing is mandatory, everything is allowed: fun is the most important thing!

In my spare time I like to play guitar and write piano songs. I've been working on orchestral compositions for a year now.... What is that?
I like to write music for films, musicals and large orchestras. Something I hope to be able to do more and more in the future.

In August 2020 I completed my first real composer assignment:
I was allowed to write, record and mix a children's musical theme for the RhijnIJssel musical education in Arnhem Netherlands.

Besides making music I love to cook, I like to be outside in nature, and I like sports.

I hope to meet all of you, and maybe I'll see you soon!

Sinds mijn studie aan de popacademie in Enschede heb ik ontzettend veel leuke muzikale dingen kunnen doen.
Theatertours door Europa, artiestenbegeleiding in Nederland en Belgie, a-capella zingen op straat in Londen met vrienden. 
Met daar bovenop nog eens ontelbaar veel bruiloften, festivals en andere feestjes met allerlei verschillende bandjes. 

Naast het optreden heb ik altijd al les gegeven. Iets wat ik enorm leuk en belangrijk vind. 
Hiermee hoop ik mijn passie en enthousiasme voor muziek weer met anderen te kunnen delen. 

Ik ben opgeleid als pop-muzikant, maar in mijn pianolessen komt er (als je het leuk vind) ook genoeg klassiek, jazz en blues aan bod. 
Leren noten lezen, improviseren, uit je hoofd spelen, muziektheorie.. Het komt allemaal aan bod, en ik richt me uiteindelijk op het gene dat jij het leukste vind. 
Niks moet, alles mag: plezier is het allerbelangrijkst! 

In mijn vrije tijd speel ik graag gitaar en schrijf ik pianoliedjes. Sinds een jaar ben ik bezig met orchestrale compositie.... Wat dat is? 
Ik schrijf graag muziek voor film, musical of voor grote orkesten. Iets wat ik in de toekomst steeds meer hoop te kunnen doen.

Niels --------------------------------- Ik ben Niels: pianist, zanger, docent en componist uit Utrecht. Sinds mijn studie aan de popacademie in Enschede heb ik ontzettend veel leuke muzikale dingen kunnen doen. Theatertours door Europa, artiestenbegeleiding in Nederland en Belgie, a-capella zingen op straat in Londen met vrienden. Met daar bovenop nog eens ontelbaar veel bruiloften, festivals en andere feestjes met allerlei verschillende bandjes. Naast het optreden heb ik altijd al les gegeven. Iets wat ik enorm leuk en belangrijk vind. Hiermee hoop ik mijn passie en enthousiasme voor muziek weer met anderen te kunnen delen. Ik ben opgeleid als pop-muzikant, maar in mijn pianolessen komt er (als je het leuk vind) ook genoeg klassiek, jazz en blues aan bod. Leren noten lezen, improviseren, uit je hoofd spelen, muziektheorie.. Het komt allemaal aan bod, en ik richt me uiteindelijk op het gene dat jij het leukste vind. Niks moet, alles mag: plezier is het allerbelangrijkst! In mijn vrije tijd speel ik graag gitaar en schrijf ik pianoliedjes. Sinds een jaar ben ik bezig met orchestrale compositie.... Wat dat is? Ik schrijf graag muziek voor film, musical of voor grote orkesten. Iets wat ik in de toekomst steeds meer hoop te kunnen doen. In augustus 2020 voltooide ik mijn eerste echte composite opdracht: ik mocht een kindermusical schrijven, opnemen en mixen voor de musicalopleiding van RhijnIJssel in Arnhem. Naast muziek maken hou ik van koken, ben ik graag buiten in de natuur en hou ik van sport. Wie weet tot snel! Niels
